Here I would like to tell you more about myself and my company. I believe the more you know us the more confident you would be in doing business with us.
My name is Shen Huang. I grew up in China. I hold a bachelor degree and a master degree in electric engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology, one of the top 10 engineering colleges in China. My second master degree from Florida Atlantic University is in computer engineering. Before coming to the US in 1990, I worked as a factory worker, engineer, and college instructor in China. After graduation from Florida Atlantic University, I worked for several US companies as an engineer. I started my own company, the Golden Port International Inc., in 1996.
Honesty, responsibility, moral integrity, fairness, hard working are very important to me as a citizen in a society as well as a business man. I take great pleasure in working with and helping American and Chinese companies - to connect the two countries, cultures and people. In these past years I have acquired expertise in the various aspects of doing international business on custom manufacturing and sourcing in China. Quality and customer satisfaction are always my top priorities. I have very good relationship with my current customers. I am looking forward to working with you.
Peony Business I like gardening and my first successful business was to bring Chinese tree peonies and herbaceous peonies to the US. Tree peony is a beautiful flowering plant. It is considered as the king of flowers in China. Our first web site was online in 1997. We had both retail and wholesale operations, and had the largest peony display garden in the US at that time. Golden Port International was featured twice in Atlanta Journal and Constitution and a prestigious nationally circulated newspaper in Chinese language. In 2001 I was interviewed by USA Today for a tree peony article. Golden Port International was listed by the New York Times as one of the few peony specialists in this country. Although our peony business was not a great financial success we feel we have done much to introduce these wonderful plants and the Chinese culture to the American flower lovers. Monrovia Nursery, Oakes Daylilies, and Molbacks Nursery, just to name a few, were among our wholesale customers. Unfortunately, we had to close our peony business in 2006, because of US plant import restrictions.

Custom Manufacturing and Sourcing At the very beginning we became connected to US manufacturers through buying scrap metals from them for Chinese factories. We were asked to source certain products from China. Since 2001 we have served several small, medium, and large companies including Progress Rail Services Corporation, a subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc., and Gunderson, a subsidiary of The Greenbrier Companies. In 2007 we received the Excellence in Service Award from Progress Rail Services. Now custom manufacturing and sourcing is our main business.
